Essential it's doing what Flash has been doing for years, but directly in the browser, so no plug-in required!
Checking the statistics on one of my sites, I noticed that a few visits came from no less an Operating System than AmigaOS.
Being a long time Amiga fan, way back when I had an Amiga 500+ (then onto my trusty A1200 - which still works!) I loved this original piece of desktop kit, and probably learned more using it than any other machine.
So it's good to see someone out there is surfing the net old school!
Interesting one, I use Adsense on most of my websites, which generates a few pence a day (be nice if it was a lot more) and the latest Adsense option that looks like it willbe coming soon, is Video Ads using the normal Adsense Javascript insert code.
I visited the site that's started all the buzz, but couldn't see any Ads, a gap where it might have been... so couldn't get a screen grab - I'll keep an eye out for this, but when it comes down to it, would video inserts fit with the site(s) esepcially since most of the videos wouldn't be contextual.
In some respects I wish they were - I've got far too many and have to spend a few hours dumping all the obsolete ones from my browser occasionally (hint to any programmers out there - Firefox needs a serious Bookmarks utility!). But something that is on the increase is social bookmarking, with the likes of del.ici.ous, blinklist, My Yahoo, etc. it's easy to save a page location from any computer you are at and refer from it later as well as sharing that bookmark with anyone else. There is also the trend of sending pages to fast paced news sites such as DIGG, but without all that fiddling about in hyperspa.. err, I mean in an Add Post window on their site.
Here's a quick piece of Movable Type code to add some quicklinks for your visitors on any currently read post.
Using the nifty CloudNine category tag cloud generator from Nick Gerakines at SockLabs, you can create one of those Web2.0 looking link systems [eg. technorati] for Movable Type.
Read on for my tutorial on how to implement C9 in your blog just as I have right here.
Here's how to make "light graffiti" out of disposable digital cameras - once the camera is modded it will display images/words automatically and run for about 2 days.
I'm definately going to have to have a go at this!
Well, it's one way to advertise yourself isn't it?
Just a quick note to all those visitors who may have come to see my Photoblog tutorial and not seen any examples in my own photoblogs - sorry.
I hold my hand up, I bust my own template adding some more functionality to the site. :-)
Oooops. Remember folks, MT tags tend to be Case Sensitive!
Fixed now.
And yet another reason not to log on inside Movable Type.
Just testing the Qumana Editor software, which can post directly to your blog via your desktop - all you need is an internet connection and away you go.
First problem I can see so far, but that's mainly due to me not reading through the manual yet, is the ability to set a difference between intro text and the read more stuff.
EDIT: and another nice thing, apart from a spell check, and the fact that it is free, is being able to download a post and edit it. another downside, is that it doesn't trigger the Publicity/Remote Interfaces part of MT on a new entry. So I would have to manually trigger the fact that I have added a new post, which also means losing out on letting Sixapart I have added new content as well.

Now that the site is starting to take shape - when I'm not wokring on my other sites - it pays to have a look at your statistics occasionally.
Development of the CloudNine Movable Type plugin has come on a bit after I emailed Nick at socklabs.com - we now have a much improved colour choice, which after a few experimental rebuilds should get you a nice scheme.
There's still a couple bugs and a couple of features I'd like implemented - but I want the Moon on a Stick some days.
I'll get to work on a tutorial over the weekend, so hopefully I'll have something up beginning next week. Though I have to start building the set to the current production I'm involved with at the local theatre on Sunday. Bruised thumbs here I come.
As you may or may not see - I've chucked the CSS driven list menu for something more WEB2.0 - a category tag cloud. As obtained from : socklabs
Not super-hot news - but worth repeating over here:
How to make MT even more Google friendly - like it isn't enough already!
